Staying slim by chewing? It’s possible girls

Taking a quick bite while you’re still working on your laptop, because in ten minutes you have to attend an important meeting 5 floors up. Or eating in front of the TV because you had such a busy day and you don’t feel like making the dinnertable… Situations that you will all recognize but don’t really contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

By eating to quick, you tend to chew less. Because of this your body can experience trouble with digesting your food and taking in all the good nutrients. Bummer! You also tend to eat more when you eat quickly instead of taking your time for your meal. The reason for this is that it takes some time for your brain to get a sign from your stomach that you’re full. If we are eating in a hurry, our brains get this sign too late and in the meantime we already ate more than we actually need.

Still not convinced ladies? Your teeth will get stronger, no more floated bellies, chance to gain weight becomes less. These are just a few of the benefits of chewing well.

My advise: chew well and eat slowly, doesn’t sound hard right? But how exactly can you apply this? Eating mindful. By following these next 4 tips, you will definitely succeed!

  1. Create a peaceful environment

No Whatsapp, Facebook or mail during diner, I know it’s almost impossible but give it a try. And don’t turn on the TV as well! Have your meal at the dinnertable and make sure there are no distractions. You can also put some nice flowers on your dinnertable. Start enjoying your meal!

  1. Chew on thick liquid food

In the morning a smoothie, some soup for diner.. All liquid meals. Did you know you also have to chew on food that’s liquid? Although these sweeties are full of nutrients you still have to chew in order for your body to absorb these nutrients. When you chew your body produces a hormone which makes it easier to absorb the nutrients. Win-win situation!

  1. Take your time

As you can read above it takes some time before your brains know you are full. This will take around 20 minutes. So take your time and enjoy your food.

  1. Chew, chew and yes chew some more

In order to digest your food properly it’s important that the structure of your food is kind of liquid when you swallow it. This makes chewing a must.
